VLCCs in the Atlantic basin suffered slumping spot rates this week even as the Middle East found steady footing.
The rate for a journey from West Africa to the US Gulf, for example, fell $8,400 to end the week at $28,900 per day, according to data from MJLF.
Eastbound rates from the region also slumped.
