Altera Infrastructure has ended a five-year legal battle and paid a fine for illegally scrapping two ships in India, to avoid distracting from the $2bn sale of its shuttle tanker business, the company said on Monday.
The company’s Norwegian ship manager subsidiary paid a NOK 8m ($720,000) fine before the beginning of a four-week trial in January at which it had planned to challenge the penalty imposed by Norwegian environmental crime investigators.
