Shipbroker Allied Shipbroking believes container shipping could receive further support from the renewed pandemic disruption, but tankers and bulkers may face headwinds.
The Greek company's latest market report says fears over the potentially damaging effects of the Omicron Covid-19 variant have been widespread globally, despite western Europe seeing the highest levels of infection so far.
Allied believes that, for the time being, it looks as though the spread of the variant will likely further feed shipping disruption working in owners' favour in already stretched supply chains.
