A US company affiliated to BP has reportedly decided to retire a pricey suezmax that has faced technical problems in the past.

Alaska Tanker Company (ATC), a joint venture between BP Oil Shipping Company USA, Keystone Shipping and OSG, plans to remove the 193,049-dwt Alaskan Frontier (built 2004) from the market, Reuters reports.

According to an anonymous source cited by Reuters, the vessel is set to retire in June but ATC would not confirm the timing.
