US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is starting a office in New Orleans to focus on enforcement of the Jones Act cabotage law.
The agency is creating the National Jones Act Division of Enforcement (Jade), which will be tasked with helping CBP and industry partners on the cabotage law.
"The Jones Act is the foundation of maritime policy of the United States and a vital tool for our nation's security and economy," CBP New Orleans Area Port Director Vernon Foret said in an announcment.
