Spot rates for MR tankers in the Atlantic basin fell to their lowest level of the year as seasonal factors ruled the day.
The Baltic Exchange’s assessment of time-charter equivalent rates for the region slumped to just under $18,000 per day, the lowest reading for the index since October of last year.
Wednesday’s figure also marked a 30% plunge since this time last week, when rates topped $25,500 per day.
