Greece’s Okeanis Eco Tankers believes VLCC and suezmax owners could enjoy a rate spike this summer as they try to wrest control of the spot market from charterers.
Chief executive Aristidis Alafouzos told an earnings call: “It’s a unique and exciting time to be in tankers.”
The Athens-based owner had all 14 ships operating spot for the first time in the January to March period.
