Norwegian shipowner Solvang has claimed a world first by retrofitting one of its owned vessels with technology for large-scale onboard carbon capture and storage (OCCS).
The work has been carried out on the 21,200-cbm ethylene/LPG carrier Clipper Eris (built 2019).
The exhaust output can be cleaned using the system, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 70%, the company said.
