The global shortage of seafarers extends to filling positions on land, with the industry in need of talent to develop a new age of cleaner shipping, according to a senior official at classification society Bureau Veritas.
David Barrow said that one of his key jobs after taking over as a new regional head at BV was to develop the skills of existing staff and to encourage new people into the industry to promote the decarbonisation agenda.
