Singapore saw container volumes increase 5% year-on-year in January, despite fewer containerships calling at the port.

The world’s second largest container port handled 2.54mteu last month. However, this was slightly down on December’s total of 2.6mteu.

In 2011 the Lion Republic handled a total of 29.9mteu, a 5.3% increase on the 28.4mteu recorded in the previous year.
