Workers were set to down tools at South Korean shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) this week.
The partial strike comes as talks over wages make little progress, the labour union was cited as saying by the Yonhap news agency.
The industrial action was set to disrupt production for between four and seven hours from Wednesday to Friday.
