Labour unrest at Indian shipbuilder ABG’s Goa-based Western India Shipyard Ltd (WISL) could end soon after management agreed to pay overdue wages.
Leaders of the workers’ union involved tell TradeWinds that senior management met Milind Naik, Goa province power minister, to break the deadlock.
They say Naik told management to pay the salaries of around 400 workers due for the past 10 months, which it was agreed would be cleared over the next two months.
