US President Donald Trump’s top diplomat acknowledged concerns in Caribbean nations about the proposed port fees on Chinese-linked ships.
And though secretary of state Marco Rubio said he would take those concerns back to Washington, he also defended US efforts to stand up to Chinese shipbuilding dominance.
“We need to have an ability to build ships in this world that don’t just come from China,” he told reporters in Georgetown, Guyana.
