Taiwan’s Chinese Maritime Transport (CMT) aims to expand its fleet with newbuildings at its Chinese partner yards, say sources with knowledge of the company’s plans.
The capesize owner will also open an office in Shanghai to enhance contact with the mainland shipping market.
The conservative time charter-oriented owner has 10 capesizes on charter for periods of one and two years to miners and European traders, plus one ship on charter to Cosco.
