HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has set a higher order target for this year, despite a forecast that the global appetite for new ships is expected to wane.
The South Korean shipbuilding group aims to secure $18bn worth of contracts, up from last year’s $13.5bn target.
But even if the 2025 target is met, the volume of newbuildings will be 12% lower than the actual $20.56bn
