Norway’s Skarv Shipping Solutions has contracted an ammonia-fuelled general cargo ship newbuilding for a pioneering timber transport deal.
The new Chinese-built vessel will carry cargo on delivery in 2027 with “minimal emissions” for Viken AT Market and AT Skog.
The companies will be the first to use ammonia-powered ships in the forestry industry, Skarv said.
