South Korea’s SK Shipping is understood to have turned to China to build a pair of VLOCs for a contract with Vale.
According to shipbuilding sources, SK Shipping is poised to place an order for two 325,000-dwt ore carriers at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) for delivery at the end 2019 and in early 2020.
Sources say the LNG-ready bulkers are priced at about $76m each.
