Saudi Aramco-controlled Saudi Basic Industries (Sabic) is seeking to charter up to six chemical tanker newbuildings.
Industry sources said the Riyadh-based Petrochemicals outfit is looking to fix two to six vessels of between 45,000 dwt and 50,000 dwt. The vessels must meet IMO type 2 chemical handling standards.
A shipping source familiar with Sabic’s tender said the chemical manufacturer has specified it wants to take delivery of the first vessel in the first quarter of 2022 and the second ship in the subsequent quarter.
