Dutch shipbuilder Royal IHC is laying off 425 workers in "persistently poor" markets.
The dredger specialist said it was “increasingly outsourcing production activities” to remain cost-efficient in the face of competition from eastern Europe and Asia.
The yard has entered into talks with its work council and trade associations about redundancies.
