NYK Line has confirmed an optional LNG carrier berth it was holding at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.
Industry sources say the Japanese shipowner has inked a contract for one 174,000-cbm vessel for delivery at the end of 2020.
An NYK spokesman on LNG declined to comment.
In July, TradeWinds reported that NYK was on the verge of signing up to the option it was holding at the yard, amid market talk that it had secured a term charter for a second LNG carrier newbuilding from France’s EDF Trading.
