Japan’s NS United, the shipping arm of steel giant Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metals, has placed an order for a 400,000-dwt Valemax very large ore carrier (VLOC) at Japan Marine United (JMU), its second VLOC booked at the yard.
NS United has ordered its latest newbuilding against a 25-year contract of affreightment (COA) from its parent company. The VLOC, which is to be delivered in September 2020, will be employed to transport iron ore from Brazil to Japan.
