Ship repair group Newport Shipping has rolled out an online portal designed to ease the complexities of ship repair and retrofit works.
A London-based subsidiary, Newport Maritime Services (NMS), will provide online quotations and booking for the ship repair, conversion and retrofit market.
NMS managing director Ege Akcasoy argues the ship repair and retrofit sector has lagged behind in adapting to the digital age, with most of the work being conducted via "complex spreadsheets, layers of brokers and reams of paperwork".
