Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding has denied it is to stop making merchant vessels at its Chiba yard.
The Japanese yard group said there was "absolutely no truth" in the report by the Nikkei Asia Review that it will not accept new orders after it finishes a tanker at the plant at the end of next year.
The website claimed fresh business will be contracted out to partner Tsuneishi Shipbuilding.
