Mitsubishi Heavy Industries plans to scale down its shipbuilding business, Japanese media reports.
It comes just a week after compatriot Kawasaki Heavy Industries said it is ready to consider withdrawing from the shipbuilding market because of poor profit from the business.
Nikkei reported Sunday Mitsubishi would stop taking orders for large passenger ships and was open to spinning off its planning and design division and sharing shipyards with competitors.
