Japanese shipbuilder Japan Marine United (JMU) has signed a cooperation agreement with engineering and production company for maritime and offshore aluminum structures Aluship Technology in Poland to build self-supporting prismatic-shape IMO type B (SPB) LNG cargo and bunker tanks.
JMU, which is fitting the first SPB tanks to built in over 25 years on four LNG carriers constructed in Japan, said it will co-operate with Aluship on sales of the SPB system to customers in Europe where the use of LNG fuel in shipping and LNG supply infrastructure have been well advanced.
