Japan has complained to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) that South Korean state backed financial institutions’ support for the domestic shipbuilding industry is in breach of international agreements on subsidies.
In a statement the Japanese Ministry of Land Infrastructure Tourism and Transport (MLIT) said that a series of bilateral meetings between Japan and South Korea had been unsuccessful and that it is left with no choice but to bring its case to the WTO.
