South Korea’s Hyundai Glovis has ordered a VLCC newbuilding at compatriot shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The Seoul-based shipping company has booked the 310,000-dwt ship on the back of a 20-year consecutive-voyage contract from an undisclosed domestic oil refinery.
Officials at HHI and Glovis declined to comment on the deal.
Tanker players believe the refinery is GS Caltex, as Glovis is said to be looking to replace some of its existing chartered vessels when their contracts expire.
