DNV GL principal consultant Gerd Petra Haugom says the demand for new green ferries in Norway will be the core driver for the adoption of hydrogen solutions in the maritime space.
She says the result of the National Public Roads Administration (NPRA) competition for hydrogen hybrid vessels will show whether the technology can be successfully scaled up to use on ferries for situations in which pure battery power is not viable.
