Fincantieri has teamed up with Mer Mec, an Italian measurer of trains and safety systems, to get into the field of information and communication technologies (ICT).
The Giuseppe Bono-led shipyard and Mer Mec have agreed to buy a half each of 98.5% of Vitrociset, a firm focused on supporting ICT in defence, security, transport and space.
Vitrociset, whose clients include UK's Ministry of Defence, has about 800 workers and earned EUR 163m in revenue in 2017 with more expected this year.
