The European Commission has approved an €80m ($85m) bailout of Finland’s Meyer Turku shipyard after it was hit by rising costs linked to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The bailout of the yard, the largest in Finland and responsible 15% of the global cruise ship newbuilding, was “necessary, appropriate and proportionate” to resolve a temporary crisis caused by the war, said the EU’s executive arm.
