Restructuring Korean shipbuilder DSME is to sell a hull block and component subsidiary.
Samjong KPMG will handle the disposal of Samwoo Heavy Industry (DSSW), according to banking sources cited by the Asiasis website.
DSSW was set up in 2010 to make hatch covers and drillship blocks, among other things.
“We will try our best for the successful disposal. We are open to any condition including giving a certain amount of work cover,” a DSME official was quoted as saying.
DSSW has 1,500 workers, including subcontractors. It is carrying out its own self-rescue plan, like its parent, which has been selling off non-core businesses to raise money.(Copyright)
