French naval yard group DCNS is reportedly prepared to take a stake in STX France.
DCNS had been touted as a buyer to block potential Chinese interest in the facility.
Group CEO Herve Guillou told French media: "Regardless of the buyer, we will ensure that our partnership with STX is permanent."
But he does not see the company becoming the majority owner due to its lack of expertise in the cruise market
The cruiseship builder is part of Korea’s restructuring STX Offshore & Shipbuilding.
