India’s government has said Cochin Shipyard will not now be privatised, despite an IPO having been lined up for months.
CNBC cited transport, highways and shipping minister Mansukh Mandaviya as saying CSL: "Cochin Shipyard is a premium shipyard - a profit-making government-owned shipbuilding company. Cochin Shipyard will not be privatised."
He also said the yard will receive priority on government orders to build more ships for various departments including defence.
