Bjornar Feen, owner of Batam-based scrubber manufacturer Feen Marine Indonesia, says although his company offers hybrid options, the orders for open-loop systems keep piling in.
“We have not sold one hybrid system. From what we hear from shipowners, it is more cost effective just to switch to IMO 2020 compliant fuel when inside ports or other restricted areas. Ships don’t use much fuel when in port,” he said.
