UK-listed Clarksons is expanding in the US after buying Washington DC-based shipbroker Euro-America Shipping & Trade (EAST).
Clarksons described the firm as specialising in freight contracts with US government agencies.
No financial details have been released, but the acquisition is being made through subsidiary Clarksons USA.
