Sembmarine and Aramco have already completed the preliminary studies into the facility to provide repair and maintenance services for the local merchant shipping and offshore industries.
Under a new memorandum of understanding announced today the three companies will now carry out a detailed feasibility study.
Details regarding the size of the investment and the location of the yard will become clear at the end of the study which is set to take no longer than 15 months, Bahri says.
