Athena Wu, the managing director of a consultancy called Wenz & Associates, fears that more of the nation’s shipyards will fold in the years to come.
At a conference in New York she argued that smaller facilities are particularly vulnerable and will likely account for most of the casualties.
While this may be the case Wu claims the government is still actively lending support to the industry and believes it will continue to do so in the near term.
