Second-hand tanker values have spent ninth months on the decline even as charter rates started to pick up, according to data from New York’s Shipping Intelligence.
The consultancy, led by shipping economist Sidney Levine, reports that its six-vessel index fleet saw its value fall to $170m, which marks a 1.9% dip from last month.
The resale value also marks a 20.9% slump from this time last year, when the index fleet was worth $214m.
