China’s Shandong Shipping group has made its move into heavy-lift shipping with an order at Yantai CIMC Raffles.
The Shandong Twin Marine unit has signed up for three 34,000-dwt semi-subermsible ships for delivery in 2017 and 2018, brokers said. No price was revealed.
In May, TradeWinds reported Shandong was planning to order and operate a fleet of heavy-lift rig decommissioning vessels through a Norwegian company it acquired in 2014, Stavanger-based Twin Marine Heavylift.
