Matson's chief executive said his company is in talks with several US yards to place an order for two ships that he estimates will cost more than $209m apiece.
His comments, made during the US containership owner's earnings briefing, confirm that Matson is looking at more than Philly Shipyard for the long-mooted newbuilding plans. Matson had been sitting on a pair of options at the yard.
