Sentek Marine of Singapore is tipped to have expanded its VLCC fleet with the purchase in a 1996-built tanker.
Shipbrokers say the company is buying the 301,300-dwt OS Concord.
A price of $16.5m is being placed on the transaction, which is said to remain on subjects.
Sentek was in line to buy the 312,700-dwt Gnemar Victory (built 2001) late last year.
