An ambitious plan to consolidate Russia’s river shipbuilding industry could see at least 70% of capacity coming under the control of Andrey Kiselev.
The Moscow based entrepreneur already owns three shipyards and is in negotiations to buy another six to help revive Russia’s sea-river transport system.
Russia has perhaps 100 river yards but many are decrepit or inactive with even the busiest in need of modernisation.
The country’s large inland waterway shipping sector has large numbers of overage and inadequately maintained vessels so is ripe for redevelopment.
