The Singapore-listed shipbuilding conglomerate outlined plans to enhance the scrap yard’s capabilites in its second-quarter earnings report.

“Going forward, the group has plans to expand the production capacity to 600,000 ldt by 2015,” the company told investors.

According to a recent regulatory filing Yangzijiang’s scrap yard currently boasts a total production capacity of approximately 200,000 ldt.

The expansion initiative suggests that the company expects to see an influx of ageing bulkers, tankers and containerships in the years ahead.
