Sale-and-purchase brokers in Athens and New York say the 106,500-dwt British Willow (built 2003) fetched between $14.2 and $15.2m, which is thought to be roughly $4m below the current market average.
They claim the ship was sold by an affiliate of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and believe it will join Cyprus Maritime’s crude transportation offshoot, Hellenic Tankers, upon delivery if reports of a sale prove true.
