Although Fincantieri has dropped out of plans to rescue Canada’s Davie Yards, Cecon, the Norwegian offshore contractor with three newbuildings caught in the crisis is not dismayed.
Cecon’s finance chief, Ivar Halvorsen, today welcomed the return of a joint venture of the Montreal based SNC-Lavalin and Daewoo to negotiations to take over Davie.
Halvorsen says he is very confident there will be a takeover and Cecon will see an end to a “never ending saga” that has hugely delayed delivery of the vessels.
