Shipbrokers have identified the units as the 57,000-dwt Chungo Tres, Arrozero Tres, Minero Tres (all built 2011) and 28,500-dwt Destino Dos (built 2001).
Vessel tracking data shows the three supramaxes are at anchor off Gibraltar, which suggests market reports that the ships were arrested by affiliates of Greek financier Marfin Egnatia following foreclosure are on point.
Sources close to Bodouroglou, who could not be reached for comment, described the deal as “distressed” and insisted the shipping magnate’s US-listed companies, Paragon Shipping and Box Ships, have no immediate plans of taking on the tonnage in question.
