The 298,000-dwt Kensington (built 1995), which has been trading in the spot market, is rumored to have gone to Russian buyers for $24.5m, which is nearly $3m higher than a current market value estimate calculated by VesselsValue.com.
Observers note, however, the price tag is in line with what the New York-listed tanker owner was said to have taken in when it minted transactions to offload the 298,000-dwt sisterships Hampstead (built 1996) and Titan Venus (built 1995) a few weeks ago.
