Golden Ocean Group has signed up for two more panamax newbuildings at a Chinese yard as part of a large-scale restructuring of its newbuilding programme.
The John Fredriksen-controlled company has won a reduced contract price for a capesize order while two of six kamsarmaxes at Zhoushan Jinhaiwan Shipyard are to be converted to smaller vessels.
Oslo-listed Golden has also locked in the four of the six kamsarmaxes left untouched by the restructuring into long-term charters of between five and 10 years while it mulls its options for financing Friday's newly-announced orders.
