Scotland's rejuvenated Ferguson Marine Engineering shipyard has clinched a £97m ($150m) order for two new ferries.
The contract was confirmed by the Scottish government over the weekend.
The vessels will be operated by state-backed CalMac.
The 100-metre long ships will use LNG as part of their dual-fuel propulsion systems.
Increased economic efficiency will create operating savings of up to 30% on conventional diesel systems and cut carbon emissions by about 25%, sulphur dioxide emissions by about 90%, and nitrous oxide emissions by over 80%.
