The European Commission (EC) is reinforcing its new European Border and Coast Guard Agency (EBCGA) with a EUR 2.2bn ($2.55bn) budget allocation for new vessels, planes and vehicles.
It said the cash would be spend between 2021 and 2027.
The total cost of the proposed upgrade is EUR 1.3bn in 2019 and 2020, with another EUR 11.3bn for the period up to 2027.
